Student is agent of change. This statement is not over. Dutch made government in Indonesia for about 350 years. This time education for Indonesian is very limited. So because Indonesian was not educated enough, Indonesian was not able to fight the Dutch government. When Dutch run the ethic politic that the policy is include the education and health for Indonesian people, some Indonesian person was educated for Dutch servant. But, some Indonesian person were study aboard in university level, such as: Soekarno and Soewardi Soeryaningrat. The educated Indonesian person was able to build Indonesia as a country.When Indonesian rezime was changing from Orde Baru into Orde Reformasi the university student were make their participation by making demonstration that make the change.

In our organization (HMI) leadership training is a necessary thing. In HMI leadership training or basic training we also can call in BATRA is an event that should done before university student joined HMI. In BATRA we are guided to think critic. By critic thinking the student can see deeper the issu in our environment. Although we should think critic we shoulh lister another argument, because the truth is relative.

Advantage of joining organization

Technical skill that we can accept from joining the organization is make the proposal, report, letter, meeting report, the way of meeting, and the way of discussing.

In an organization there are many working program that should be finished. Usually an organization make a seminar in their period. From making concept until the seminar realization usually there are many mistaken. Mistake is a fail if we see the mistaken from narrow view, but if we see the mistaken from learning process we can see that the mistake is a learning that make we more carefully in the future.

A chairman or a coordinator usually feel the difficult in managing human. Of course managing human is more difficult than managing thing. But, in managing human we can learn the human character that sometime is not acceptable in your mind. This condition need out patience and our tolerance. This condition is also make the lesson to face people in another time.

In the organization the ability of communicating to another person will be increased. To make an event usually we need another person from our organization or from outside our organization, such as speaker, catering, camp rental, sound system rental, etc. in communicating with them we can know how to build the relation. We will not meet this experience if we just study incampus and go home after that.

In joining the organization we can make relation to alumni. In HMI usually get funding from alumni, not just funding you can get the easy way in getting job.

Some causes why student lazy to join the organization

Now academic obligation is more heavy than when our parent were a university student. Now our presence minimal is 75%, when our parent were a university student they can absence as many an possible. Now we are obligated to finish our study before 7 years. If we can’t finish our study in 7 years we will be dropped out.

Now youth is prefer to join the organization that suitable with their hobby. So the club that prepare their hobby have many member, like a music club. Now idealism organization is not as popular as in the beginning freedom of our country. In the beginning freedom of our country President Soekarno gave many speech about nationality and idealism so the idealism organization became popular at the time.

Some youth is secular and hedonism. They see religion is only ritual and do their day without see their religion way. Secular person is difficult to join the religious organization. Hedonism person usually is not able to do the thing that not at their level. They are also difficult to joint with another person that not at their level.

Idealism organization usually has extreme idea that usually not accept by common people. Common people usually follow the government, without thinking why they think like that. Because of that common people are difficult to accept a new idea. Don’t forget the truth is relative.

How to Change

To change the youth condition is almost impossible. To change the trend, we should meke a new trend, but how good is your trend and how popular is your trend, the trend is not possible to change people idealism and principle.

I am absolutely not agree if idealism organization is change to accommodate the secular and hedonism people. I think idealism organization should keep on track their action and keep their idealism and principle. Idealism organization should introduce vision and mission of their organization as good as possible and show that our action is good. If another people know that our organization has good vision, mission, and action that is possible if another people are interested to join our organization.
